Adult and teen acne can be painful and scarring, both physically and emotionally. Left untreated, severe facial acne leads to scarring and pockmarks. Acne does not need to make you feel isolated; it is extremely common and treatable.

We at Lone Pine Dermatology will utilize our skin care esthetician, physician assistant, and experienced skin doctor to each take a unique approach to care for patients battling symptoms of whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, pustules, nodules, and scarring. Symptoms may present as facial, arm, back, and even earlobe acne.  We will assess your situation to determine the root cause of your acne and give you the tools to put it behind you for good.

Common Causes of Acne

Hormones
In women, if your acne is localized around your chin or jawline and follows your monthly cycle it is likely hormonal acne. In males, hormonal acne mainly affects teens.

Bacteria (cystic)
Bacterial acne causes painful yellow or white pus-filled pustules and cysts.

Fungal Infection
Fungal acne is hard to distinguish from regular blemishes, but it doesn’t respond to typical treatments.

Diet
Your diet may contribute to acne if you have certain sensitivities or allergies to the food you consume.

Cleansing Routine
If you have frequent whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples, you may have not found the correct cleansing routine for your skin type.

Other Skin Conditions
What you have battled as acne may be psoriasis, eczema, or another skin condition altogether. Your skin doctor will diagnose and treat your skin to restore health.

Once our team understands your history and has determined the factors contributing to your acne, we will work with you to develop a medical treatment plan that will fit your goals. An acne treatment plan may incorporate spot treatment with prescription creams, extraction, oral medication, and/or cosmetic dermatology services.

Skin Specialist Esthetician Chemical Peel for Acne

A medical acne treatment plan is often enhanced by a cosmetic treatment plan. Lone Pine Dermatology’s skin care esthetician offers specific treatments that actively target acne and scars.

  • A hydroderm facial will act as a gentler alternative to microdermabrasion and deep cleans the pores while refreshing your face with purified water. This opens your pores to allow medications to penetrate your skin and work more effectively.

  • A chemical peel is effective for some acne because it removes the outer layer of skin revealing fresh smooth skin underneath. Additionally, a chemical peel shares the benefits of hydroderm in opening pores to allow for improved working of the medicated creams.

  • Resurfacing laser skin treatment is successful for acne scar removal and reducing dark spots. It will improve the overall texture and appearance of your skin.

  • Botox provides a temporary solution for the appearance of some types of acne scarring.
Effects of acne can range from minor to debilitating but in any case, the longer it persists, the more damage it can do. Please don’t wait.
